Your Venture's Unfair Advantage: Assignment 23

Resources:

1.     My leadership ability – this resource is inimitable because of my experiences working in restaurants since I was 17 has honed this skill. I’ve seen a variety of management skills and it has helped me understand how to talk to my fellow coworkers.

2.     My reliability – I’m always consistent. This is rare because sometimes people will be late or inconsistent. But I am always punctual and give 110%; you always know what to expect when you work with me.

3.     Social capital with local businesses – I have existing relationships with quite a few small business owners in south Florida. They’ve given me great insight on what it is like to start a small business.

4.     Familiar with mental health – my personal experience with mental health has allowed me to understand it in a very unique way. It gives me more passion to help others with similar problems.

5.     My personality – I have a good balance of work/fun. People have fun working with me because I know that when people are happier, they work better/harder/more efficiently.

6.     Personal connections with peers – I have friends in lots of different fields. This allows me to ask them questions and get a better understanding of how to start my business.

7.     My communication skills – I love working with people because I’m great at communicating. Being an entrepreneur requires coordination among many individuals and I believe that my communication skills give me an advantage.

8.     My computer capabilities – I’ve always loved using Excel. I believe in a business environment this skill is critical. I’m Lynda.com certified in Word and Excel. I’ve taken a number of classes that help better my Excel skills: like ISM3004 and CGS2531.

9.     Social capital among coworkers – I believe my reputation of being a hard worker has given me many advantages in the workplace. I was promoted to lead server because my bosses and the restaurant owners agreed that I was the best person for the job.

10.  My punctuality – I am always on time. I’d rather be an hour early than 5 minutes late. This quality is important because it shows that I am considerate for other people’s time. If I have an important meeting, I think it’s important to not make the other person wait.

Top Resource:

I believe that my top resource is my leadership ability. Having good leadership skills is vital for a business owner. I’ve worked at a number of restaurants and how my managers treated me was influential on my reason to work harder or stay at that job. Entrepreneurs have the chance to great a company culture and the type of business that they would want to work in. People can see when the owners and managers truly care about them and it makes all the difference.
