Opportunity 1: Job opportunities increase

Why the opportunity exists: More and more people are filing for unemployment

 

Prototypical customer: Unemployed person who previously had a job, but was laid off because of COVID-19

 

Easy or Difficult: Easy because so many people are going to desperately need money

 

Why I saw this opportunity: I am currently laid off from my job at a restaurant and looking into avenues of work I normally wouldn’t think of.


 

Opportunity 2: Climate change is causing more natural disasters

Why the opportunity exists: Climate change is making the weather unpredictable and hostile

 

Prototypical customer: Any homeowner that would want insurance to protect his or her home

 

Easy or Difficult: Difficult because people don’t want to spend money based on a disaster that may or may not happen

 

Why I saw this opportunity: I’m from Fort Lauderdale and our streets are constantly flooding and hurricane season can be unpredictable.


 

Opportunity 3: Restaurants open with regulations

Why the opportunity exists: People are starting to go out to eat again, and there are many regulations to follow

 

Prototypical customer: Any customer at a restaurant

 

Easy or Difficult: Easy because people want to go out and eat food from restaurants

 

Why I saw this opportunity: Before the pandemic, I worked at a restaurant. The restaurant is doing take-out and delivery, but it still had to reduce its staff and hours.


 

Opportunity 4: Malls and gyms open at 50% capacity

Why the opportunity exists: People are excited to get out of the house and do something that feels “normal”

 

Prototypical customer: Gym member or mall shopper

 

Easy or Difficult: Easy, follow the necessary regulations and everyone will be safe

 

Why I saw this opportunity: I miss going to the mall

  1. Hi Chaplin, I think you identified really interesting opportunities. As the world is constantly changing, new opportunities are always around the corner. Right now, the pandemic has dramatically shifted the way the world functions and businesses have had to adapt. For the past dew months I have seen that people were afraid to go out but are now starting to go back to their "normal" life. For this reason, I do agree that restaurants have an opportunity to get more people to return if they implement new regulations when they do open. Thank you for sharing!
