The End and Beginning of the Journey: Assignment 30

  1. After reading through my posts, I look back at all the lessons that each exercise taught me. I thought I understood what it meant to be an entrepreneur, but there are so many different skills and insights that go into it.
  2. One of my most formative experiences was the “testing the hypothesis” assignment. I had always wanted to conceptualize a better alternative for mental health resources on campus, but I should never put it down on paper. This assignment made me realize that it is possible to bring this concept to life. I’m definitely proud of the concept as a whole. I’ve felt very emotional writing some of the blog posts because this venture is so deeply personal to me. To be honest, these assignments and this product allow me to do things in my brother’s memory. He thought of this world as a sad place; but I want to prove to him and myself that I can make it a tiny bit better.
  3. I definitely see myself as an entrepreneur—a well-rounded entrepreneur. The assignments were structured so that we understand a variety of aspects of entrepreneurship. I have definitely moved closer to developing an entrepreneurial mindset. I’m not done learning about the entrepreneurial spirit. Every day is a learning day when you’re an entrepreneur.
  4. To students who are going down this path, I recommend being open to yourself and your peers. Their feedback is important, but you should also trust yourself. It’s all about balance. A more concrete example of balance in the entrepreneurial world would be price versus quality. There needs to be a balance. This class requires the same mindset of balance. You must juggle your personal life and your academics. I really enjoyed this class, and my suggestions for upcoming students would be to stay organized and get assignments done early!
The picture that I've included is a picture of my cat (black) and my mom's cats (hairless lol). I figured since I talked about balance so much, I'd share this photo where the cats kind of look like yin and yang.

  1. Hi Chaplin,
Firstly, clever use of tying your picture back to the assignment. I thought your advice to future students was super helpful as well. Honesty is very important when giving or receiving feedback because that is the only way to improve your product. It is important to accept the feedback you receive, but at the same time believe in yourself and product. As you described, a balance of the two will lead to the most success. Great work!
