Halfway Reflection: Assignment 14
1. Taking this class during the pandemic has been challenging. There are a few behaviors that I have used to keep up with this class. I have needed to hone my time management skills and I have needed to stay very organized. It’s been strange to not have a place to go—to be stuck at home almost all day. Self-motivation has allowed me to keep doing assignments on time and to the best of my ability.
2. I’ve definitely thought about not doing some assignments for this class. I’ve even waited until Friday morning to do assignments, so because I need to do well in this class, I wake up early and complete my assignments. I’ve had a very difficult time in college: I took a year off from UF for some time to myself and had to reapply, I unexpectedly lost my younger brother, and I failed a few courses here. But I know that I want my degree and I want it from UF, so that pushes me to work harder.
3. Three tips that I would offer to next semester’s students are keep up with videos and assignments, balance school and your hobbies, and always believe that it’ll get better. Yes, I took a year off from academics; but I came back knowing that I want to finish my degree and that solidity in myself and my academics makes me more determined than ever before. Maybe you didn’t do well on the first few cupcakes, but if you persevere and study hard your next grades will improve.
I've included a picture I took at the beach last week. It was a well deserved break from school and it really helped me get my mind refocused.
Hey Chaplin,
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing a bit of your personal story! I admire that you came back to finish your degree, its not easy. I relate to you on how I also had to adapt my studying methods due to quarantine, and self-motivation is a really big thing. I also have to push myself to do my assignments because it is easy just watching videos all day in the comfort of your home instead. Love the picture !
Hi Chaplin, thank you for sharing! You had great things to share! I agree that taking classes during the pandemic has been super hard, I struggle with losing track of time and I easily become unmotivated for certain assignments. I think that the "thinking it will get better" would definitely be a great motivator and a good thing to have in mind in order to stay motivated. You had great things to share!
ReplyDeleteHi Chaplin,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading what you had to say about your tenacious spirit and I find that we both are very similar in many ways. I also agree that it has been very difficult staying focused on the overall goal and keeping a positive mindset during this whole pandemic. I am one who works a full-time job and also is taking 13 credit hours. It is sometimes difficult to stay positive and motivated, but my tenaciousness gets me through the tougher times. Thanks fro sharing!
